The Newest Member of the White Family

I am officially adopting Stevie.  I have had a lot of dogs in my life but Stevie will only be the third dog I have owned.  Since Stevie's cataract surgery, she requires a lot of eye drops and I am now setting my alarm to get up at 4:00 AM so that she is getting them every six hours.  With this new development, it became clear that finding an adopter for an older, deaf dog that requires 4:00 AM eye drops would be nearly impossible.  Camp Cocker is being kind enough to continue to pay for her medical expenses until I get a job and get on my feet financially.  I could never say enough good things about Camp Cocker because it's the dream rescue in regards to compassion, ethics, and extraodinary acts of kindness.  The fact that Camp Cocker was even willing to rescue Stevie shows what kind of a rescue they are.  Stevie sat in a crowded shelter in LA for two months because no one wanted to adopt or rescue an old, deaf, blind dog.  It becomes nearly impossible to find adopters and with the tremendous shortage of foster homes, dogs like Stevie often end up in boarding for a long time and cost the rescue a great deal of money.  So, nearly all the older, blind, deaf dogs end up being euthanisized in scary shelters.  Without a doubt, Stevie would be dead if Camp Cocker hadn't rescued her.  Camp Cocker took a risk and it definitely paid off.  So, let me introduce you to the newest member of our family, Stevie Marie White.  Isn't she a beauty?!
